Alfred Seccombe began his construction career as a carpenter in Carmel in 1977. In 1986 he started Bay Building & Design, and in 1994 he founded North Star Construction. He has been an associate member of the AIA since 2001. North Star has established a reputation as one of the most trusted residential builders on the Monterey Peninsula.

Alfred has been designated a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) by the US Green Building Council. In 2009 North Star launched a new division focusing on sustainable energy systems and energy efficiency in existing and new homes.
