"In 1951 former Taliesin apprentice and architect Mark Mills designed and built a remarkable little redwood and desert masonry house among the oaks in Carmel by-the-Sea Mills used a geometric grid plan, and employed an innovative system of fenestration to bring light into the interior spaces.
In 2008 North Star Construction expanded the residence for contemporary use, rehabilitating the original and creating a sensetive addition that preservesand enhances the architectural character of its Wriglrtian inspiration. North Star's work is an excellent case study for the appropriate treatments of architecturally significant properties."
